Romanticize Your Reset: Simple Ways I'm Slowing Down & Showing Up

Lately I've been learning to slow down and be more intentional, not just with my routines but with how I care for myself overall. I call it a little reset and it's something I come back to anytime life feels off, chaotic, or just blah. So in true cozy girl fashion, I thought I'd share a few of the ways I reset, from small habits to products I'm currently in love with. Take what speaks to you, leave what doesn't, and feel free to romanticize your reset in your own way.
Resetting My Space:
When I need to feel grounded, I clean. But not in a rushed, stressed, "ugh I have to" way, I turn it into a full on vibe. Since I don't live alone, I'll often ask my partner for a bit of space and I've shared how therapeutic it can be for me, and he respects that, but even when I can't I still find a way to make it feel good. Step one: I put on something cute and comfy, yes even to clean. It just hits different when I feel put together. Then I throw on a playlist and clean in zones so I don't get overwhelmed or sidetracked. I'll move things back to their space instead of putting them away right away, it keeps the momentum going. To keep myself on track, I use a little cleaning checklist broken down by room. It helps me get through everything without feeling like I have to do it all at once. Cleaning becomes less of a chore and more of a reset ritual.
Resetting My Mind & Energy:
This part is huge, especially when life gets busy or your brain just won't chill. I've had to learn that taking care of my mental energy is just as important as taking care of everything else, especially when you're figuring out life, making plans, and trying to hold it all together. When I feel that "I need a break before I break" feeling creeping in, I listen to it. I'll go on a walk (outside or on the treadmill), put my phone on DND, put on music, and just move. No pressure to "work out", just need to move my body to clear my mind. And if I'm more in a stay at home mood, I'll grab one of my adult coloring books (yes they're a thing and they are so soothing and cute), watch a comfort show, or write in my journal. Journaling has helped me get things off my chest in a healthy way instead of bottling them up. It's not about being perfect, it's just about creating space to breathe.
Resetting My Body:
This is my favorite part, the self care, self love, and soft girl reset. My shower time is sacred. I swear I come out a new person every time. Here's what I've been loving lately:
Cleanse: Dove Anti-Bacterial Body Wash
Moisturize in shower: Naturium The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash
Tools: Silicone body scrubber for daily use, and once a week I go in with an African net sponge for a deep exfoliation
Shave routine: Tree Hut Shea Sugar Vanilla Scrub, Athena Club's Glossy Shave Oil in Super Pink, and a Gillette Fushion 5 men's razor - always!
I don't do my full hair and shave routine (curly hair life), but when I do, I go all in - and I'll save that whole routine for another post.
Resets don't have to be perfect or planned. They're just little ways to remind myself I deserve to feel good. Whether it's lighting a candle, going for a walk, or deep cleaning your kitchen in cute loungewear, it all counts. This is just what works for me and if it inspires you to slow down and show up for yourself in a softer way, then I'm glad we had this chat.
